Zwanger Pesiri Radiology Offers Free Radiologic Services to the Uninsured on Long Island
Millions of Americans do not have health insurance and the recent economic downturn is putting even more people’s health in jeopardy. There is increasing unemployment and decreasing insurance coverage. Zwanger Pesiri Radiology has so far fortunately been able to weather this economic crisis intact, but should not and cannot turn a blind eye to the plight of our co-residents of Long Island.
On April 19, 2009, Zwanger-Pesiri launched a program called Give Back Sundays, which provides radiological services at no charge to disadvantaged and uninsured Long Island residents. With the huge success of Give Back Sundays in 2009, we will be continuing the program into 2010, running all year. Each of our eight offices will be hosting a Give Back Sundays.
Our entire program is staffed by volunteers, including radiologists, technologists, receptionists, etc. In turn, we are encouraging patients to donate their time and effort to other volunteer organizations. The goal is to inspire more people to help each other on Long Island. This project will give the Zwanger Pesiri volunteers a true sense of pride and public service, but more importantly give people the diagnostic imaging studies they need and cannot afford.
The next Give Back Sunday will be on February 7th, 2010 at our Medford location.
